Renote is an extension designed to improve the experience of reading online news articles. The main goals are to encourage readers to reflect more deeply on the content, stimulating their attention and awareness, and to increase the value of journalistic and informational content.

By utilizing artificial intelligence, Renote allows users to express a preference for which parts of the article they consider most important and returns statistics based on the responses of all users.

The Attention Economy

We live in an era where smartphones and notifications reduce our ability to concentrate. The average time spent on a webpage is about 40 seconds, and this shortened attention span particularly affects the world of journalism.

In this field, the competition to capture attention pushes many outlets to rely on sensationalist headlines, resulting in a decline in content quality, which becomes less important than its form.

Renote was created with the aim of reversing this dynamic

The extension engages readers by asking them to reflect on the article and vote on which part they consider central to understanding the main message. The project aims to make the reader more attentive and critical, rather than being a passive consumer of news.


Renote has 3 goals:

Increase readers' attention span through deeper engagement.

+ Interaction

Create a new type of more personal interaction with the reader.

+ Value

The data generated provides insights into user preferences.

It all starts with AI

AI is at the heart of Renote. Thanks to text analysis algorithms, artificial intelligence automatically selects the article's key words and relevant phrases.

These insights are then used to prepare the voting process, minimizing manual intervention from editors.

How does it work?

During reading, the reader is invited to express a preference, indicating which part of the article they consider essential.

At the end of the voting process, Renote provides the user with a comparison of other readers' choices, showing statistics on which sections of the text were most appreciated.

The Value of Data

Renote collects user preference data anonymously. This information is aggregated to create statistics that show which parts of the articles are perceived as most relevant by the reader community. The collected data is then processed to provide valuable feedback to both readers and article authors, creating a continuous cycle of interaction and reflection on the content.

UX/UI Design

The interface of Renote has been designed with a focus on usability and simplicity. The goal was to make the interaction smooth and non-intrusive, integrating the voting functionalities without interrupting the natural reading experience.

Users can express their preferences with just a few clicks, and the voting results are presented clearly and immediately, through a clean and intuitive interface.
